Petr Gromov is a Doctoral Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the Centre for Planetary Habitability, University of Oslo, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. His research focuses on Early Earth processes, density flow sediments, detrital zircon geochronology, and paleogeography. He holds a BSc (2010) and MSc (2012) from St. Petersburg State University, Russia.
- Education:
- BSc in Geology, St. Petersburg State University (2006–2010)
- MSc in Geology, St. Petersburg State University (2010–2012)
- Professional Experience:
- Senior Geologist, Karpinsky Russian Geological Research Institute (2013–2023)
- Geologist, ALROSA, Huzhir Enterprise Ltd., and Institute of Precambrian Geology (2008–2013)
His research interests emphasize Archean geology, turbidite sedimentology, and geochronological methods. Recent work includes studies on Arctic ground ice and Neoproterozoic magmatism in Siberia. He actively publishes in geological journals and collaborates with international research networks.
His academic contributions span fieldwork, laboratory analyses of detrital zircons, and paleogeographic reconstructions. No specific awards are listed, but his work aligns with global efforts to understand Earth's early evolution and continental dynamics.
Current projects involve investigating sediment transport mechanisms in ancient continental margins and integrating geochemical data with paleogeographic models.
