Professor Peter Thomas is a full Professor at the University of Warwick and Director of the Fluid Dynamics Research Centre. He holds Dipl.-Phys. and Dr.rer.nat. degrees in physics from Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany. Before joining Warwick in 1995, he worked at the Max-Planck Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Applied Mechanics, German Aerospace Centre (DLR), and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on experimental and theoretical fluid dynamics, including rotating flows, two-phase flows, granular flows, boundary-layer transition, and fluid-compliant wall interactions.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as ES193 (Engineering Mathematics), ES2C5 (Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics), and ES3D6 (Fluid Mechanics for Mechanical Engineers). His office is located in F331, and he is available for advice on Fridays 10 am–12 pm during term time. Contact: School of Engineering, University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL.
