Prof. Peter Scheepers is a distinguished academic holding the position of Professor of Empirical Studies on Religion (Methodology emphasis) and Comparative Methodology at Radboud University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, where he also serves as Vice-Dean. His academic career includes roles such as Elected Member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (2004–present), National Coordinator for the European Social Survey (2001–2005), and Director of the Nijmegen Research Institute for Social and Cultural Science (2003–2008, 2011–2014). His research focuses on ethnic diversity, social capital, voting behavior, and methodological innovations in cross-national surveys.
Key achievements include the EU Descartes Prize (2005) for pioneering cross-national survey methodologies and over €3 million in research grants between 2007–2014. Notable projects include studies on ethno-religious conflicts in Southeast Asia, interethnic contact in Europe, and religious solidarity in European societies. He has organized large-scale data collections archived via DANS, fostering reproducibility in social sciences.
