Peter Savastano is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Seton Hall University, jointly appointed in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminal Justice and the Department of Religion. His research focuses on intersections of religion, sexuality, gender, race, and mysticism across global traditions. He holds a PhD in Religion and Society from Drew University (2002).

- Teaching: Courses include Anthropology of Consciousness, African Diasporic Religions, and Queer Theology
- Key Research: Studies psychedelic consciousness, Vodou rituals, and contemplative practices; explores LGBTQ+ histories in Newark
Recent publications include Sodom on the Passaic (2024) and Merton & Indigenous Wisdom (2019). Awards include Teacher of the Year (2018) and Book of the Year (2020).
