Don Seeman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Religion and the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies at Emory University, holding a joint appointment. He specializes in phenomenological anthropology and the anthropology of religion, with a focus on Jewish thought, mysticism, and contemporary Israel. His research includes studies on Ethiopian-Israelis, Maimonides, Hasidism, and contemplative practices. He co-edits the 'Contemporary Anthropology of Religion' book series and serves on editorial boards for Prooftexts and the Journal of Contemplative Studies. Seeman founded the Emory Forum for the Ethnographic Study of Religion, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to religious studies.
