Peter Rupert

Peter Rupert is a Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and holds multiple key roles in the institution. He serves as:

• Chair of the Department of Economics
• Executive Director of the Economic Forecast Project
• Associate Director of the Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance, founded by Nobel Laureate Finn E. Kydland

He earned a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in Economics from Santa Clara University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester in 1987. Before joining UCSB, he spent 12 years as Senior Economic Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and held academic appointments at the University of Western Ontario, State University of New York (Buffalo), West Virginia University, USC, and Birkbeck College at the University of London.

His research interests span broad and specific areas within Economics, including Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Justice System Economics, Labor, and Household Economics. He is affiliated with the Markets Network, focusing on disciplines related to economic systems and policy.
