Peter Roosenboom

Peter Roosenboom is Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance and Private Equity at the Department of Finance, Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has been affiliated with ERIM since 2002 and serves as a Fellow of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management. Roosenboom previously served as Department Chair of the Finance Department at RSM from 2013-2020 and as Dean of Faculty at RSM during 2021-2022.

Roosenboom earned his PhD in finance from Tilburg University in 2002. His academic journey includes extensive teaching and research activities focused on corporate finance, private equity, corporate governance, and financial accounting.

His research spans multiple dimensions of finance, with particular expertise in private equity, venture capital, corporate governance mechanisms, IPOs, and SME financing. Roosenboom has built a strong reputation in both academic and industry circles, with his work published in top-tier journals including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Journal of Corporate Finance. His research often bridges academic theory with practical industry applications, particularly in the European private equity market.

Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on entrepreneurial finance mechanisms, including crowdfunding, initial coin offerings, and private equity's societal impact. Roosenboom has served as Associate Editor at Corporate Governance: An International Review, MAB, and the Multinational Finance Journal. Previously, he was Associate Editor at the Journal of Banking & Finance from 2011-2019. His editorial roles reflect his standing in the finance academic community.

He has supervised numerous PhD candidates across various finance topics and maintains an active role mentoring doctoral students. Roosenboom has also advised the Dutch government on private equity and SME financing matters, demonstrating the practical impact of his research.
