Peter Price

Peter Price is a Research Fellow at The European Graduate School / EGS and co-director of thefidget space, an experimental arts laboratory in Philadelphia. A critical media theorist, composer, and electronic musician, he bridges art, philosophy, and technology through interdisciplinary projects. Born in 1966, Price trained in music, dance, and theater, earning a BMus from the University of the Arts and a PhD from EGS. His activism in Central America during the 1980s and engagement with continental philosophy inform his critique of musical meaning in the digital age.

Price’s research interrogates the intersection of technology, sound, and posthumanism, arguing that musical meaning must account for digital computation and metaphysical shifts. His works include Becoming Music: Between Boredom and Ecstasy (2010) and Resonance: Philosophy for Sonic Art (2011), blending philosophy with avant-garde music and multimedia.

Collaborating with dancer Megan Bridge since 1996, Price has produced over two dozen multimedia performances, emphasizing interactivity and transcultural synthesis. His projects at thefidget space host global artists like Brian Massumi and Deborah Hay, fostering experimental transdisciplinary dialogue.
