معرفی
Professor Peter Nixon is a Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London, Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on solar energy conversion by chloroplasts and cyanobacteria, including photosystem II assembly, synthetic biology, and sustainable protein production. He holds a BA (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from Imperial College London.
His affiliations include the Centre for Solar Biotechnology, Alkion BioInnovations, Kyomei Ltd, and the Agri Futures Lab. Previous roles include a Visiting Professorship at Nanyang Technological University's School of Biological Sciences (2016–2020).
Research interests span enhancing photosynthetic light reactions, cyanobacterial synthetic biology, and sustainable biotechnology. Key projects involve engineering photosystem II components, optimizing chlorophyll synthesis, and developing strategies for scalable protein production.
Publications emphasize structural biology of photosynthetic complexes, genetic modification of cyanobacteria for bioproducts, and chloroplast genome editing. Collaboration with industry partners like Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein highlights translational applications of his work.
