Prof. Dr. Peter Nickl is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Regensburg, with a career spanning institutions like the University of Hanover, Leibniz Universität Hannover, and the University of Münster. His academic journey began at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (1978–1985), continued at Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia (1980–1981), and culminated in habilitation at the University of Regensburg (2000). Nickl’s work bridges medieval philosophy, ethics, and theological inquiry, with a focus on habitus, ecological ethics, and the intersection of affect and intellect in scholasticism.

His teaching spans existentialist and classical philosophy, with courses on Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Bergson, and Scheler. Nickl collaborates internationally, including annual participation in the Semaine d’Étude CHERTA (Rome) and editorial work on medieval texts like Peter of John Olivi’s writings.
