Peter N. Smith is a Professor of Economics and Finance at the University of York, where he has been since 1995. He serves as Director of the MSc Economics and Finance program and Director of Taught Graduate Admissions. His research focuses on financial economics, macroeconomics, and labor economics, with recent work on trend following strategies, asset pricing models, and the gender pay gap. He has supervised 34 PhD students to completion and chairs the Trustees of the Money, Macro and Finance Society.

- Research Interests: Includes asset returns in defined contribution pensions, long-run consumption risk models, and the evaluation of financial market strategies such as trend following. He also studies labor economics, particularly the gender pay gap.
