Peter Mundy is the Lisa Capps Professor of Education, Learning and Mind Sciences at the University of California, Davis School of Education, and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the UC Davis MIND Institute. His research focuses on the role of joint attention in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), educational interventions for ASD learners, and bridging clinical and educational research. Trained as a developmental and clinical psychologist, Mundy explores how social cognition, attention, and learning intersect in neurodevelopmental disorders.
He has contributed to longitudinal studies on ASD symptom trajectories and classroom-based adaptations. His work emphasizes translating findings from developmental psychology and neuroscience into practical educational strategies. Mundy’s interdisciplinary efforts include collaborations across the School of Medicine’s MIND Institute and the School of Education, fostering innovations in inclusive education and policy.
Key areas of interest include social attention in ASD, academic achievement disparities, and the development of assessment tools like the Childhood Joint Attention Rating Scale (C-JARS).
