Doctor Peter McGoldrick is an Adjunct Senior Researcher in the Department of Earth Sciences at the School of Natural Sciences, University of Tasmania. With over 25 years of experience, he specializes in geochemical analysis of sediment-hosted ore deposits, particularly Proterozoic SEDEX and Cu-Co mineralization.
- Research focus on hydrothermal dolomitisation, trace element proxies, and ocean-atmosphere evolution
- Key collaborator in AMIRA and ARC projects
His work combines field studies, laboratory analysis (LA-ICP-MS), and statistical modeling to understand ore genesis and exploration vectors. Recent publications highlight pyrite trace element fingerprinting (2019) and mid-Proterozoic oxygen level constraints (2014). Major projects include the ARC Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposit Research (2005-2014) and Zambian Copperbelt studies (2001-2012).
Supervision highlights include 13 research students (1992-2017), with thesis topics spanning sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits, cosmic ray modeling, and LA-ICPMS data reduction techniques. Current collaborations involve international teams from Finland, North America, and the Baltic region.
