Peter Maskell is a Full Professor of Business Economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Denmark, since 1994. He holds academic qualifications including a Doctor Mercaturae (Dr.Merc) in Business Economics from CBS (1992) and a PhD in Regional Economics (1983). His research focuses on innovation dynamics, economic geography, and institutional evolution. He has held leadership roles such as Director of DRUID (Cross-University Research Center on Industrial Dynamics) since 2002 and Chairman of the DRUID Society since 2008.
Maskell has extensive editorial and advisory roles, including memberships in the Royal Danish Society for Science, Royal Science Society of Uppsala, and Academia Europaea. He has contributed to policy through roles like Chairman of Denmark’s Joint Governmental Committee on Industry and Cities (1999-2001) and consultancy for the OECD and European Commission. His teaching includes supervising eight PhD graduates and designing the MSc in Management of Creative Business Processes.
