Finn Valentin

Finn Valentin is a Professor at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), where he directs the Research Centre on Biotech Business. He also leads two MSc programs: Innovation in Healthcare and BioBusiness and Innovation. Previously, he served as Head of Department at both CBS and the University of Copenhagen, and held leadership roles including Vice Chairman of CBS's Academic Council and Denmark's Social Science Research Council.

His research examines science-based firms, technological innovation, and ecosystems in biotechnology and healthcare. Key themes include:

• Intellectual property rights (IPR) in academic research
• Venture capital's role in biotech firms
• National/regional innovation systems
• Organizational dynamics affecting research commercialization

His work has been funded by the EU, Danish Research Council, Øresund Research Committee, and Danish Ministries of Research/Industry.

Awards & Honors:

• Fulbright Scholar (Research Fellowship at Harvard University)
• Research Fellowship at European University Institute, Florence

He contributes to advisory boards for the Danish Building Research Institute, Risø National Laboratory, and EU/UN committees. His teaching includes courses on healthcare business models and biotechnology patenting.
