Peter König

Prof. Dr. Peter König serves as Professor of Nursing and Rehabilitation Management at Furtwangen University within the Faculty of Health, Safety, and Society. He has held this position since 2014 and additionally serves as Head of the Institute Mensch, Technik und Teilhabe since 2016. Since 2018, he has chaired the local ethics committee at Hochschule Furtwangen.

His educational background includes:

• Master of Science in Nursing from Vallendar University (2006-2008)
• Dipl. Pflegewirt (Nursing Management) from Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg (1993-1998)
• Doctoral studies (Dr. rer. cur.) completed between 2008-2014

Dr. König's research focuses on evidence-based nursing practices and innovative healthcare delivery systems. His expertise spans dementia care concepts, palliative care, global health initiatives, and the application of assistive technologies for people with disabilities. His work in care and quality management, as well as healthcare classification systems, has significantly advanced nursing science methodology.

He leads several important research projects including "PPZ-Freiburg" (funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research), "HEIKE" (funded by Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of Economic Affairs), "situCare," and "Interactive Memories." These projects address critical healthcare challenges in technology integration, infection control protocols, crisis intervention systems, and memory care using mixed-reality approaches.

Dr. König serves on multiple advisory boards including the BMBF project ExoHaptik, the Scientific Advisory Board of Bundesverband Kinderhospiz e.V., and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). His leadership extends to chairing the board of "Dominican Health e.V." and membership in numerous professional organizations including the German Professional Association for Nursing Professions, International Council of Nurses, and North American Nursing Diagnosis Association.

His teaching portfolio encompasses fundamentals of nursing science, nursing process and assessment, management of care needs and disabilities, social legislation in healthcare, and specialized courses in healthcare terminology and human resources management.
