Peter Kuhlmann is a W 3 Professor for Latin Philology and Didactics of Ancient Languages at the Georg-August University of Göttingen since 2004. His academic career includes previous positions as Academic Councillor at the Düsseldorf Seminar for Classical Philology (2000-2004) and research associate at the Gießen Collaborative Research Center 434 "Cultures of Remembrance" (1997-2000). He completed his habilitation in Classical Philology in 2000 and earned his doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Giessen in 1993.
Professor Kuhlmann's research spans Latin Philology, Roman Philosophy (particularly Cicero and Seneca), Classical Reception Studies, and the Didactics of Ancient Languages. His work bridges traditional philological approaches with contemporary educational theory, focusing on how classical texts can be made relevant to modern students.
