Dr. Peter Konečný is a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin, specializing in the history of science with a focus on mining knowledge transfer in early modern Central and Eastern Europe. He studied History and History of Science at the University of Regensburg and History and Cultural Studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, earning his PhD in 2018 with a dissertation on early modern travelogues by foreign mining experts in the Habsburg Empire.
His research explores

- State-driven technological innovation in early modern Europe
- Material and practical knowledge exchange in premodern scientific practices
Dr. Konečný is currently preparing a critical edition of a 17th-century travel diary documenting journeys to mining towns in Central Slovakia. His work intersects with chemical sciences, environmental studies, and technological history, emphasizing the cultural dimensions of scientific practices.
