معرفی
Peter Kirton is a Senior Lecturer and Chancellor’s Fellow in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science at the University of Strathclyde, UK. He is an active researcher in theoretical quantum physics with a focus on open quantum systems, quantum dynamics, and quantum technologies. He is currently accepting PhD students and participates in multiple EPSRC-funded research projects.
His research interests include open quantum systems, non-Markovian dynamics, quantum simulation, polariton physics, and computational methods for quantum mechanics. He applies theoretical and numerical techniques to understand complex quantum phenomena such as superfluorescence, non-adiabatic transitions, and many-body effects in dissipative environments. His work bridges physics, materials science, and computational modeling.
The recent publications highlight a strong trend in developing and applying advanced computational frameworks to quantum systems, including neural network representations of density matrices and exact simulation methods for non-adiabatic dynamics. Research spans quantum materials, quantum information, and fundamental quantum mechanics, with emphasis on practical tools like the OQuPy package for simulating open quantum systems.
He has served as an examiner for PhD theses at the University of Manchester and Trinity College Dublin and has delivered invited talks on exotic phase transitions and time-evolving matrix product operators. He is a Principal or Co-investigator on multiple Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) projects funded by EPSRC, supporting PhD students in quantum science. These projects focus on engineering many-body quantum states and simulating dissipative quantum dynamics.
Kirton is actively involved in research teams working on quantum simulators and open quantum systems. He collaborates with researchers across the UK and internationally, contributing to datasets and software development for the broader quantum research community.
