Peter Johansson is a Professor at the Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health (Avdelningen för omvårdnad och reproduktiv hälsa), part of the Faculty of Medicine (Medicinska Fakulteten) at Linköping University. He also serves as Research Director at Närsjukvården i Öster, RegionÖstergötland. His roles combine academic leadership with clinical research and education.

His group, Gruppen för digital hälsa och vård, develops internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) programs tailored for depression management in heart disease patients. He also studies stress reduction strategies for healthcare workers via massage and mindfulness, and caregiver support systems leveraging digital tools. Key areas include:
