Peter Jepsen

Peter Jepsen is a Clinical Professor of Hepato-Epidemiology and Senior Consultant in Liver, Gastrointestinal, and Intestinal Diseases at Aarhus University. He holds an adjunct professorship at the University of Nottingham. His primary affiliation is with the Department of Clinical Medicine’s Liver, Stomach, and Intestinal Diseases division.

His research focuses on alcohol-related liver disease, liver cancer (HCC and cholangiocarcinoma), clinical epidemiology, and disease prevention through collaboration with general practice. He leads two PhD projects: one on shared care for liver cirrhosis complications (2025–2027) and another on adrenal tumors (2018–2022).

Key research areas include cirrhosis epidemiology, hepatitis delta virus prevalence, and the impact of comorbidities on patient outcomes. His work emphasizes population-based surveys and cohort studies to inform healthcare policies.

Jepsen collaborates internationally, particularly with Nottingham University, and serves as a journal editor. He mentors four postdocs and supervises two PhD students, bridging clinical practice and high-impact research.
