Professor Peter Jackson holds the Chair in Global Security at the University of Glasgow's School of Humanities, History Department. He specializes in 19th-20th century international history, modern France, and security studies. His research explores Franco-British defense cooperation, French security theories, and the rise of modern intelligence organizations.
Education: PhD in History from the University of Cambridge (1995), post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University. Academic roles include lecturer at Aberystwyth University (1998–2011), editor of Intelligence and National Security (2004–2015), and current Chair at Glasgow since 2013. Visiting professorships at Sciences Po and Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Research focuses on post-WWI peace processes, intelligence culture, and transatlantic security. Key works include Beyond the Balance of Power (2013) and France and the Nazi Menace (2000). Leads major research projects on Franco-British relations and visions of global order post-WWI.
Scientific Awards: Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Royal Historical Society.
