معرفی
Peter J Edmunds is a Professor in the Department of Biology at California State University, Northridge. He teaches courses including Physiological Ecology (BIOL 422), its laboratory component (BIOL 422L), and a graduate seminar in organismal and population biology (BIOL 615C). His research focuses on coral reef ecosystems, with particular emphasis on physiological ecology, disturbance recovery, and climate change impacts.
Research Interests: Dr. Edmunds investigates coral population dynamics, thermal physiology, and the effects of ocean acidification on reef communities. His work spans tropical and subtropical coral reefs in locations like Moorea (French Polynesia), St. John (US Virgin Islands), and the Caribbean, with recent studies analyzing recovery bottlenecks during coral recruitment and the potential of 3D-printed substrates for reef restoration.
Publication Trends: Recent articles (2024-2025) highlight his focus on
- coral recruitment limitations and recovery dynamics
- physiological responses to elevated pCO2 and temperature
- ecosystem resilience to hurricanes and chronic disturbances
- octocoral community dominance over scleractinian corals
- cryptic coral species differentiation in thermal performance
- long-term monitoring of reef degradation in the Anthropocene
