Peter Holdridge serves as a University Teacher at the School of Information, Journalism and Communication, University of Sheffield. He coordinates the MSc in Digital Library Management program and acts as Departmental Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Coordinator, teaching core modules including Digital Storytelling, Designing Usable Websites, and Digital Multimedia Libraries.
His educational background includes a BSc in Environmental Science from Bradford University (1999) and an MEd in distance and online learning from the University of Sheffield (2006).
Holdridge's research centers on educational technology with dual emphases: Technology Enhanced Learning and Digital Libraries. He investigates how technology overcomes traditional teaching barriers to promote deep learning, particularly through educational informatics and learning analytics for personalized student approaches. His digital library work addresses critical challenges in digitization and preservation systems.
Publication analysis from 2007-2018 reveals consistent focus on metacognition in information behavior, methodological rigor in user studies, and technology's pedagogical impact. Recent work examines student perceptions of technology-enhanced learning approaches, while earlier studies explore cognitive styles in music software design and search behavior.
His recognition includes:
- Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA, 2018)
Holdridge supervises student dissertations in educational informatics and contributes to academic communities through:
- Membership in the Information Retrieval Research Group
- Advisory role at the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC)
- Active participation in the Association for Learning Technology (ALT)
