Professor Peter Hillmen is a Clinical Professor of Experimental Haematology at the University of Leeds and Honorary Consultant Haematologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He leads the Experimental Haematology section in LICAP and the Translational Haematology Research group. His roles include Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) CLL Sub-group and Chairman of the International PNH Interest Group (I-PIG).

Research focuses on PNH and CLL, including development of anti-complement therapies like eculizumab. He chairs the Global PNH Registry and leads the UK's National PNH Service managing 300+ patients. His CLL work includes minimal residual disease assessment and targeted therapies for B-cell receptor pathways.
Professional leadership includes chairing NCRI CLL trials, directing a 12-member clinical trials team, and involvement in international DSMBs for CLL trials. He maintains active clinical practice alongside research.
