Peter Gabis

Peter Gabis is a Professor for Drums and Head of the Institute for Percussion Instruments at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University for Jazz and Popular Music. He holds dual faculty appointments at the Friedrich Gulda School of Music and Vienna Conservatory. His roles include liaison teacher, ombudsman, and pedagogical innovator in jazz percussion instruction.

Education includes:

• Private University of the City of Vienna (Graduation 1997, Degree 1998 in Jazz Pedagogy)
• Manhattan School of Music New York (2000-2001)
• Master's program in Mindfulness in Education at Kirchlich Pädagogische Hochschule Wien/Krems (ongoing)

Research focuses on mindfulness integration in music education through the '12-week mindfulness program for musicians' initiative. Performance work spans 30+ albums as session musician, including collaborations with Vienna Symphony Orchestra and international festivals.

Teaching innovations include Percussion Ensemble methodologies and pedagogical uses of relaxation techniques. Awards include the 1999 Upper Austria State Scholarship. Professional activities include:
