Peter Franklin

Peter Franklin is an Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the School of Population and Global Health and the Department of Population and Public Health. He holds roles as Director of the Occupational Respiratory Epidemiology Research group and a member of the Global Health research group and the Children's Environmental Health research group at the Telethon Kids Institute. His research focuses on environmental and occupational epidemiology, particularly mining exposures, asbestos, air pollution, and early-life environmental impacts. He teaches epidemiology in undergraduate and postgraduate programs and coordinates the Environmental and Occupational Health unit in UWA's postgraduate public health program.

External roles include Senior Scientific Officer at the Western Australia Department of Health and Honorary Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute.

Key contributions include analyzing mesothelioma cases in Western Australia and addressing asbestos risks in built environments. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and environmental sustainability.
