Peter F. Lake is a Professor of Law and the Charles A. Dana Chair at Stetson University College of Law, where he serves as Director of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy. He holds an A.B. from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, focusing on torts, higher education law and policy, and insurance.
His scholarship examines institutional liability, campus safety, and the evolution of legal frameworks governing student-university relationships. He has authored five books and contributed to numerous law review articles addressing Title IX compliance, campus risk management, and student mental health. His work has been cited in major media outlets and legal decisions, including the Restatement of the Law of Torts.
Professor Lake has served on advisory boards for the JED Foundation, Higher Education Mental Health Alliance, and the VTV Family Outreach Foundation's 32 National Campus Safety Initiative. He also chairs Stetson's Annual National Conference on Law and Higher Education and works as a Senior Higher Education Consulting Attorney with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. His awards include the Vision Award from Alpha Chi Omega (2003) and recognition as a featured author at the University of Connecticut Pivotal Publications Colloquium (2008).
