Since joining the faculty in 1995, he has served multiple terms as Associate Dean (2001–03; 2010–13; 2024) and has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Columbia, and Vanderbilt Law Schools. His expertise spans torts, legal philosophy, defamation, and products liability, with over 100 scholarly works and co-authorship of influential texts like Tort Law: Responsibilities and Redress (Aspen, 2021) and Recognizing Wrongs (Harvard UP, 2020).
Zipursky’s research has redefined tort theory through Civil Recourse Theory, co-developed with John C.P. Goldberg. This framework has become a cornerstone in English-speaking tort scholarship. His awards include the 2023 William L. Prosser Award and 2024 Hart-Dworkin Award, alongside the 2023 National Civil Justice Award for Recognizing Wrongs. He actively contributes to legal reform through the American Law Institute, advising on Restatements of Torts and Property Law.
Publications reflect his engagement with cutting-edge issues like defamation in digital contexts, mass tort litigation, and Supreme Court jurisprudence. His media appearances in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and podcasts underscore his role as a thought leader in legal ethics and tort law.
