Peter Domokos is a physicist at the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, where he leads the Quantum Optics 'Momentum' Research Group. He is a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, holding the rank of Research Professor. His work spans quantum optics, cavity quantum electrodynamics, and quantum many-body systems.
- Fields of Scholarship: Ultracold atoms, Laser cooling and trapping, Bose-Einstein condensation, Quantum optics, Cavity quantum electrodynamics
Domokos's research focuses on quantum phase transitions, cavity-mediated interactions, and hybrid quantum systems. His recent work explores dynamical phase transitions and finite-size scaling in cavity QED systems. He has supervised projects like MOCA and CRYST³ as a Consortium partner PI.
His scientific accolades include the Momentum Prize (2011) and the Young Researcher Award (1996). With over 100 peer-reviewed publications and an H-index of 31, his work has significantly influenced quantum optics and condensed matter physics.
- Selected Awards: Ordinary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2019), Momentum Prize (2011), Physics Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2004)
