Overview
Professor Peter Cistulli is a leading academic in Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney, holding the ResMed Chair at the Charles Perkins Centre and Northern Clinical School. He directs the Sleep Research Theme and the Centre for Sleep Health & Research at Royal North Shore Hospital. With 35 years of experience, his work focuses on sleep-disordered breathing, obesity-cardiovascular interactions, and innovative therapies like oral appliances for sleep apnea.
Research & Awards
His $26M+ NHMRC-funded research spans sleep apnea pathophysiology, craniofacial morphology, and sleep’s role in chronic diseases. He has pioneered oral appliance therapy and been awarded global recognition, including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Fellowship and the Belgian Dental & Surgical Sleep Medicine Career Award. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, with projects in Iceland, Canada, Hong Kong, and the U.S.
