Peter Campbell is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Baylor University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. from King’s College London, and a B.A.H. from the University of Winnipeg.
His research focuses on international security, civil-military relations, strategy, insurgency, counterinsurgency, and cyberwarfare. Notable works include Military Realism: The Logic and Limits of Force in the US Army (2019) and co-authored articles in journals like Survival and Defense Studies. Ongoing projects explore the influence of military experience on presidential foreign policy.
Campbell teaches courses on international politics, grand strategy, national security decision-making, and the Vietnam War’s legacy. He has contributed to policy-relevant research funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, focusing on bridging academic political science and national security policymaking.
Publications span theoretical analyses of military innovation, cyber defense strategies, and historical case studies of military leaders. His work bridges historical scholarship with contemporary strategic challenges, emphasizing actionable insights for policymakers.
