Prof. Peter Brandt is Head of Physical Oceanography at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre, specializing in tropical ocean dynamics and climate interactions. Awarded the Albert Defant Medal (2022), his research examines equatorial currents, oxygen variability, and upwelling systems using observational and modeling approaches.
He coordinates international projects (TRIATLAS, BANINO) and has led 20+ research cruises. Key findings address Atlantic deoxygenation counteractions and coastal productivity drivers.
