Peter Bengtsen is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at Lund University's Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences within the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. His research focuses on street art as an artistic and social phenomenon, urban creativity, and visual methodologies.
He has authored three books: The Street Art World (2014), Street Art and the Environment (2018), and Tracks and Traces (2023). Bengtsen co-leads the Art Worlds Apart project (2022-2025) funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Recent publications highlight themes in street art, spatial justice, and visual culture. His work contributes to UN SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities) through urban creativity research.
He has served as editorial board member for Lund Studies in Arts and Cultural Sciences since 2023 and co-editor of Public Art Dialogue since 2024.
