Previously, he held roles such as Professor in Geothermics at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and Senior Research Associate at ETH Zurich. His expertise spans multidisciplinary geoscience research, focusing on quantitative methods applied to earth systems and sustainable resource management.
Education:
- PhD in Geology, University of Tübingen (2000–2003)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, German Research Foundation-funded (2004–2008)
- Habilitation (Venia Legendi), ETH Zurich (2015)
Research Interests: Prof. Bayer’s work emphasizes bridging quantitative sciences with geology to address environmental safeguarding and resource utilization. He advocates for modern resource mining over fossil reliance and explores geothermal energy systems through advanced environmental engineering approaches.
Awards:
- Marie Curie Fellowship (2008–2010), ETH Zurich
Labs/Teams: Leads the Department of Applied Geology at MLU, collaborating with researchers like apl. Prof. Wolfgang Gossel and Dr. Christoph Bott. His team includes staff such as Julia Becher, Moritz Beck, and others focused on geothermal and applied geological studies.
