Peter Allen is an Associate Professor at the Fountain School of Performing Arts, Dalhousie University, where he has been a pivotal figure in music education and performance for over a decade. As a concert pianist, composer, and conductor, he bridges creative practice with academic rigor.

Research & Creative Activity focuses on piano performance, contemporary composition, and orchestration. His works like Hurricane Juan Piano Concerto and Mar Atlantico reflect a fusion of classical training and regional artistic identity.
Awards include a finalist nomination for the 2005 Lieutenant Governor’s Masterworks Award for his orchestral work The Halifax Explosion. He is affiliated with the Canadian Music Centre and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).
Teaching encompasses Piano Performance (Levels I-IV), Orchestration (MUSC 3282), and Chamber Music Literature (MUSC 3353). He previously conducted the Dal Symphony Orchestra for 12 years.
