Petar Kaukov

Petar Kaukov is an Associate Professor and Head of the Theater Production Department at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts in Bulgaria. He holds a PhD in Dramatic Theater (2018) from the National Academy of Dramatic Arts and Sciences and a Master's in Theater Directing (2010). His career spans over 25 directed theater performances across Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside acting roles in notable theater productions and television. He has led academic roles at multiple institutions since 2005, including part-time lecturing and assistant roles before becoming a full-time faculty member.

His research focuses on Shakespearean performance, stage interpretation, and international theater collaboration. He has authored monographs and articles on Shakespeare's comedies and modern dramaturgy, including Shakespeare's Comedies Between Eros and Thanatos (2019).

Awards include the Ikar Award (2018) for puppetry achievement and recognition for directing contributions in festivals like the Golden Dolphin Film Festival. He has served as Deputy Director of major theaters and led initiatives with The Drama League of New York. His work emphasizes cross-cultural collaborations and pedagogical innovation in theater education.
