Pernilla Stenström serves as Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. She is also a supervisor in Paediatrics (Lund), project manager in Pediatric Surgery, and a member of the LU Profile Area: Light and Materials. Her clinical expertise includes pediatric surgery with specialization in congenital conditions.
Dr. Stenström's research focuses on pediatric surgical conditions, particularly Hirschsprung's disease and anorectal malformations. Her work integrates advanced diagnostic techniques like ultra-high frequency ultrasound with innovative eHealth applications to improve postoperative care for children. She leads multiple active research projects examining congenital conditions, prenatal diagnostics, and digital health interventions in pediatric surgical care.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on Nordic collaborative research, with particular emphasis on Hirschsprung's disease diagnostics, anorectal malformation management, and eHealth applications in pediatric surgical follow-up.
