Dr Penny Travlou is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Geography and Theory at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), University of Edinburgh. She serves as Programme Director for the MSc Architecture, Landscape and Environment and is actively involved in transdisciplinary research at the intersection of cultural geography, landscape studies, and critical urban theory.

Her research explores collaboration in urban networks, cultural commons, feminist and decolonial methodologies, and ethnography. Key projects include EU-HERA's Electronic Literature (2010-2014), AHRC-funded Digital Manual (2012), and COST Action From Sharing to Caring (2017-2021). She co-founded the Feminist Autonomous Centre for Research (FAC Research) in Athens and contributes to the Toolkit of Care COST Action (2022-2026).

Awards:

She supervises PhD students on topics spanning cultural landscapes, urban commons, decolonial methodologies, and participatory research. Her work engages extensively with community organizations in Colombia, Greece, and Africa through fieldwork and knowledge exchange.
