معرفی
Dr Penny Beckerson is a Lecturer at the School of Life Sciences, University of Essex. She teaches courses including Biochemistry of Macromolecules (BS131), Metals in Biotechnology (BS228), and Pharmacology and Narcotics (BS329), focusing on biomedical science and life sciences education.
- PhD in Biochemistry, University of Essex (2015)
- BSc in Biochemistry, University of Surrey (2011)
- PCGE (QTS), University of Suffolk (2016)
Her research centers on biochemical mechanisms in metalloproteins, particularly cytoglobin function, ligand binding regulation, and disulfide bond dynamics. Key themes include hemoprotein coordination, lipid interactions, and redox-responsive structural changes in proteins.
Her publications analyze cytoglobin's ligand binding properties regulated by disulfide bonds and hemoprotein coordination, with implications for understanding oxygen transport and storage mechanisms. Current teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and postgraduate modules in life sciences.
