Pengcheng Zhu is a Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. He holds MSc and PhD degrees in Materials Science from the University of Liverpool (2014 and 2019). Prior to Oxford, he worked as a research fellow at the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick. His research focuses on structural materials design, manufacturing, and characterization for energy storage applications, particularly lithium and sodium-ion batteries. Key areas include electrode design, current collector development, and advanced characterization techniques like multiscale X-ray computed tomography.
His work bridges materials innovation with practical energy storage solutions, emphasizing sustainable manufacturing and recycling processes. He has contributed to studies on cathode materials, solid-state electrolytes, and sensor technologies for battery systems.
