Peng Ji serves as Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, holding the Marie A. Fleming Research Professorship and dual appointments in Experimental Pathology and Hematopathology.
His educational trajectory includes:
- MD from Peking University, China (2000)
- PhD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2006)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cell Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2010)
- Clinical Pathology Residency at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center (2015)
- Hematopathology Fellowship at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center (2017)
Dr. Ji's laboratory investigates fundamental mechanisms of blood development and disease through three interconnected pillars:
- Terminal erythropoiesis regulation under stress conditions
- Inflammatory drivers of clonal hematopoiesis expansion
- Pleckstrin-2 signalosome functions in myeloproliferative neoplasms
His scientific impact is recognized through prestigious honors:
- Ramzi S. Cotran Young Investigator Award (2022)
- Election to American Society for Clinical Investigation (2021)
- Pamela Katten Memorial Leukemia Research Award (2019)
- Harrington Scholar Innovator Award (2018)
- Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Scholar Awards (2007, 2012, 2015, 2017)
As an active professional leader, Dr. Ji chairs the American Society of Hematology's Red Cell Biology Committee (2023-2024), serves on the NIDDK Advisory Council (2024-present), and contributes as Associate Editor for The Journal of Clinical Investigation. His ongoing research explores DNA repair mechanisms in leukemogenesis and inflammatory signaling pathways in acute myeloid leukemia progression.
