معرفی
Peng Cheng is a researcher at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Geo-Energy department within the Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen (ESRIG). His research focuses on assessing the geomechanical and geochemical behavior of siliciclastic caprocks during hydrogen storage operations, integrating experimental and numerical approaches.
- Educational Affiliation: University of Groningen
Cheng's work involves characterizing rock samples using techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen gas adsorption (N2GA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). He conducts three-point bending (TPB) and nano-indentation experiments to evaluate hydrogen exposure effects under varied reservoir conditions (temperature, pressure, media). Geochemical simulations (PHREEQC) and geomechanical modeling (THOUGH3) are also employed to study hydrogen-brine-rock interactions.
Cheng's research interests span geomechanics, geochemistry, and energy storage technologies, with a specific emphasis on hydrogen storage integrity. He collaborates with supervisory figures like Prof. Dr. Harro Meijer (Promotor) and Dr. Johannes Miocic (Co-promotor) in the context of the University of Groningen's academic community.
