Dr. Penelope J.E. Quintana is a Professor of Environmental Health at San Diego State University, where she also serves as Graduate Advisor and Associate Director for Student Affairs. She earned her PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley and MPH from SDSU.
Her research examines air pollution exposure, thirdhand smoke contamination, and border environmental health. She has pioneered studies on tobacco smoke pollutants in indoor environments and traffic-related air pollution at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Recent publications focus on exposure assessment methodologies and health implications of environmental tobacco smoke. Her work demonstrates consistent innovation in environmental monitoring techniques.
