Pekka Lintunen is a Professor of English and leads the Second Language Acquisition track at the Department of English, University of Turku. He serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and previously held roles such as Deputy Head of the School of Languages and Translation Studies. His academic career includes over two decades as a Senior Lecturer and a Docent in Applied Linguistics at the University of Jyväskylä.
Education: PhD in English Philology (2004) from University of Turku. Extensive teaching experience in English linguistics, pronunciation, and second language acquisition methods. Supervised theses at BA, MA, and PhD levels.
Research Focus: Spoken language fluency, pronunciation teaching, multilingual speech development, and technology-enhanced language learning. Led major projects like MultiFluency (Svenska Kulturfonden, 2020-2023) and FDF2 (Academy of Finland, 2020-2024).
Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles on L2 fluency, speech anxiety, and pedagogical phonetics. Recent work emphasizes cognitive factors in fluency and multilingual speaker comparisons.
Labs/Teams: Active in Leala - Centre for Language Learning Research and FlowLang research group. Involved in curriculum development for language teaching technologies and hybrid learning strategies.
