Pei-Wen Fang serves as a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Macalester College, teaching upper-level Mandarin courses and advising the Macalester Chinese House language immersion community.
Her professional background spans over a decade of Mandarin Chinese instruction across heritage and public schools in Minnesota, Texas, South Dakota, Ohio, and Illinois, with additional teaching experience at the University of Minnesota. She concurrently directs the Concordia Language Village Startalk program focused on language education outreach.
Academic interests center on Chinese Language acquisition, Chinese Cultural studies, innovative Language Pedagogy approaches, and specialized Heritage Language Education methodologies. These domains directly inform her classroom practice and community engagement initiatives within Chinese language education.
Outside academic duties, Fang actively participates in traditional Chinese music, bird watching, crocheting, and drawing while supporting her sons' Lion Dance performances as an involved parent.
