Peggy Kleinplatz is a Full Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, with cross-appointments to the School of Epidemiology and Public Health and the Faculty of Education. As Director of the Optimal Sexual Experiences Research Team, she specializes in sexual health and therapy for marginalized populations.
- Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (University of Ottawa, 1987)
- B.A. (Honours) in Psychology (University of Ottawa, 1981)
Her research explores optimal sexual experiences, erotic intimacy, and sexual health for older adults, disabled individuals, and those from marginalized communities. Recent publications focus on group therapy interventions, kink-affirmative guidelines, and historical trauma’s impact on fertility.
Her scientific awards include:

She supervises students like Caitlin Hart and Maxime Charest, and applies her findings to develop therapeutic models for couples with sexual desire discrepancies.
