Pedro Carvalho

Pedro Carvalho is an Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro's Department of Chemistry and researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with expertise in thermodynamics and process optimization.

Research focuses on:

• Development of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents for CO₂ capture
• Membrane-based separation technologies for sustainable chemistry
• Biorefinery processes for biomass valorization

Publications demonstrate innovations in gas separation membranes, solvent recycling, and industrial wastewater treatment.

Leads the PATh research group working on green solvents and sustainable process design with over 50 annual publications.

Supervises MSc and PhD students in biorefinery and green chemistry projects.

Coordinates EU projects like REVITALISE for battery recycling and collaborates internationally with Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and India.
