معرفی
Pedro Alpuim is the Group Leader of the 2D Materials and Devices Group at the INL (International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory) and a Professor in the Physics Department at the University of Minho. His research focuses on scalable production of 2D materials like graphene and their applications in biosensors, environmental monitoring, and quantum technologies. He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering (IST Lisbon, 2003) and an MSc in Physics (University of Minho).
- Education:
- PhD in Materials Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon (2003)
- MSc in Physics, University of Minho
Research Interests: Development of graphene-based biosensors for early disease detection (e.g., malaria, ischemic stroke), nanoscale electronics, and advanced 2D material heterostructures. His work bridges fundamental physics with practical applications like counterfeiting detection in wines and neural interface technologies.
Key Projects:
- Pioneered scalable CVD graphene production at INL
- Functionalized graphene surfaces for immunoassays
- Attomolar DNA detection via graphene FETs
- Exploration of twistronics in 2D materials
Labs/Teams: Leads the 2D Materials and Devices Group, collaborating with researchers like Andrea Capasso (h-BN/MoSe₂ photonics) and Rui Campos (electrochemical sensors). Hosts international postdocs and student researchers.
