Peder Skjelbred

Peder Skjelbred is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Medical Ethics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, specializing in normative ethics and population ethics. He concurrently serves as a part-time advisor at Langsikt, a Norwegian think tank focused on emerging technologies and global health.

His academic background includes a B.Phil. in Philosophy from Wadham College, University of Oxford (2022) as a Norway Scholar, and undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oslo and Mansfield College, University of Oxford.

Skjelbred's research centers on the ethical dimensions of mortality measurement, exploring how death constitutes harm, the valuation of life extension versus morbidity reduction, and intergenerational obligations. His work bridges theoretical philosophy with practical applications in health policy, AI ethics, and global public goods, demonstrating strong interdisciplinary engagement across value theory and applied ethics.

His recent publications reveal a consistent focus on distributive justice in health crises, examining auction mechanisms for resource allocation, ethical obligations to future generations, and vaccine distribution equity.
